smiling, the comfort of hugs,

scent of cinnamon and allspice

cakes plumped with raisins, and mugs

 of mulled cider, rooms lit with candles, red

winter flowers or berries with green leaves,

favourite songs, board games, or long walks

in the forest knowing all these trees are

yours or that you belong to them

while birds flit 

to and from 

a feeder as

though time

itself is a celebration and all the world 

filled with joy
